African Bush Elephant Poster The African Bush Elephant (Loxodonta africana) also called the African Savanna Elephant is the largest land animal on earth and the second tallest land animals behind the giraffe. These elephants are nomadic by nature, moving from area to area looking for food sources. These herds can be as large as 1000 elephants, which helps protect the more vulnerable among them from predators. It also often brings them into conflict with humans.
